Remember the last time you walked up to a product sample table in the grocery store? You received a free sample. If the demonstrator was good, she would tell you how that product would make you better off. She just happened to have a case of that product on her table. How many times did you find other people in the check-out line who had the same case of product that you had?
The seller gave something of value, free, to you at the beginning of the transaction. It works with product samples. It works with web pages; the Number One reason people visit a website is to gather free information.
